TOLEDO, OH, — Come hear the Toledo Jazz Orchestra perform the music that paralleled an important time in American history. c The TJO will play original arrangements from the bands, along with contemporary arrangements of their tunes to showcase the long term impact of the Harlem Renaissance on modern jazz.

RON KISCHUK is in his tenth season as artistic director of the jazz orchestra. He is on the adjunct faculty of Wayne State University and is a Yamaha clinician, and performing artist. Ron directs The Masters of Music Big Band, The Tartarsauce Traditional Jazz Band, and is the owner of Brassworks Entertainment in Detroit, and The Masters of Music Conservatory in Royal Oak. He has been a featured soloist as well as performed with The Detroit Symphony Orchestra on trombonist.  Ron has 16 CD releases as bandleader, and has recorded with greats such as Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Grand Funk Railroad and so many more. He even holds credit to performing on the Grammy-winning soundtrack “Standing In the Shadows of Motown.”

ABOUT THE TOLEDO JAZZ ORCHESTRA: Since 1980, the Toledo Jazz Orchestra has worked with dozens of industry legends, including Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Williams, Clark Terry and Zoot Sims. The group also performs the works of the major big bands from the past eight decades along with arrangements commissioned specifically for the orchestra. The Toledo Jazz Orchestra has two albums to its credit titled “Groovin’” and “Out of Nowhere.”
